The world is changing rapidly, and our ability to adapt locally to these changes requires consistent and reliable funding. When you join our base of donors, it provides the steady stream of support needed to restore and protect our local lands and ecosystems together—building resilience to the changes ahead.
We’ve been doing this work for nearly ten years, and we want to keep it up for the next ten—and beyond! Our monthly donors, who we lovingly call Perennial Friends, provide us with sustaining, reliable income that we know we can count on.
Your monthly gift to Grassroots Ecology makes a difference in many ways!
To name a few...

Hands-on Education
Through our free Youth Stewards program, young people from across our region get to explore and restore the natural spaces near them. The program brings students from diverse backgrounds together and builds strong connections to nature and each other—all while contributing to the greater good.

Tackling Invasive Species
Each time we see native plants regain a foothold, or get a visit from a bird or insect species that hasn't been seen for years, it reminds us why it’s important to keep on with what we’re doing. Weeding works, but only with persistence!
Monthly gifts from Perennial Friends ensure we don’t lose momentum—or biodiversity.

Restoring Habitat
Across the region, our native plantings are growing into thriving habitats that provide bluebirds and other winged wildlife with steady sources of food throughout the year: protein-rich insects during the spring and summer months, drawn to native plants for the nectar and shelter they provide; and fruits and berries in the fall and winter from native shrubs like coffeeberry, elderberry, and toyon.
What current Perennial Friends are saying
“I became a monthly donor because I want to make a difference in the world, and a smaller monthly donation fits my limited budget. I give what I can because I believe in what Grassroots Ecology does!” - Perennial Friend since 2023
“I’ve worked in various roles in non-profits for a long time so I know how critical it is to have committed dollars coming in. Being a perennial friend is easy and significantly improves the financial well-being of Grassroots Ecology. Join me!”
- Perennial Friend since 2017
